Best Buffalo Chicken Dip

I have been making homemade spices and sauces for my kitchen pantry, and honestly, this recipe just hit the right spot. I made it a few weeks ago for my relatives who visited for the holidays, and they all asked for the recipe.

Can I Make This Dip In A Crockpot?

Of course, you can use a crock pot or a slow cooker. It is just another method for cooking chicken dip.

How To Make Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

Kitchen Gadgets:

  • Cast Iron Pan: A cast iron pan is excellent for cooking as it is also an oven-safe pan without additional pot.
  • Oven: It does not matter if you use a conventional oven or a countertop toaster oven. Just ensure it is preheated to the right temperature before filling your cast iron pan with chicken dip.

Ingredients:

  • Oil: I always use extra virgin olive or avocado oil for my recipes.
  • Fresh Garlic: Minced fresh garlic adds a slightly spicy flavor to this recipe.
  • Shredded Chicken: This recipe can use cooked chicken breast or rotisserie chicken. Just make sure to shred it before using it.
  • Cream Cheese: Choose a low-carb cream cheese you can find at the stores.
  • Buffalo Ranch Sauce: A homemade buffalo ranch sauce is one you should try.
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese: Use cheddar shredded cheese for that gooey texture to the dip once it is baked.

FULL RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS WITH STEPS FOR BAKED BUFFALO CHICKEN DIP

This buffalo chicken dip is quick and easy, requiring only a few ingredients. Let me walk you through the whole process of making this homemade dip. Follow the instructions with all the details to achieve the same result.

Remember also to check the recipe card for the exact measurements of the ingredients.

First Step: Prepare All Ingredients

The first thing to do is prepare everything you need, especially the base ingredient, shredded chicken. You can prepare the chicken ahead of time or use leftovers from previous dishes. For the rest of the ingredients, make sure they are fresh for the best result.

Preheat your oven to 190 degrees Celsius (375F).

Second Step: Start Sautéing

In the cooking pan, heat the oil and add the minced garlic. Cook the garlic until golden brown, and then add the shredded chicken, ranch buffalo sauce, and cream cheese. Use medium heat to prevent uneven flavor and burning of the ingredients.

Third Step: Mix and Add Cheese

After adding the base, sauce, and cream cheese, mix until thoroughly combined and creamy. Add the shredded cheddar cheese or even a bit of blue cheese.

Fourth Step: Bake

Once the cheese is in, remix them all until the cheese is evenly spread onto the chicken dip and it is ready to bake.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. I suggest broiling it for a few extra minutes to brown the top.

Once baked, remove the dip from the oven and garnish it with chopped parsley or green onions.

TRICKS AND TIPS FOR MAKING THIS DELICIOUS DIP:

  • Rotisserie chicken – If you are short on time or have no time to cook it, you can get a rotisserie chicken from your local grocery store and shred it for the recipe. You can also use canned chicken if you have no choice, but I do not like that.
  • Buffalo ranch sauce – Making one at home is more convenient than buying outside because the ingredients might not suit your taste.
  • Garnish – Adding a garnish like chopped parsley or green onions is optional, but serving it with the greens on top makes it look more appealing and adds a great aroma.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Substitute for Cheddar Cheese

If cheddar cheese is unavailable or you just do not like it, you can use Monterey jack cheese or homemade mozzarella cheese. If you are unfamiliar with Monterey jack cheese, it has a mild flavor, almost the same as cheddar, and gives your dip a creamy texture. Mozzarella is also a great alternative if you love a dip with a stretchy pull.

Can I Make Buffalo Chicken Dip Ahead Of Time?

Yes, you can. Preparing ahead is a great idea for those who always have surprise guests or whose relatives usually visit on weekends. Preparing ahead can save you time and effort, especially during a busy week.

Mix all the ingredients and place them in a bowl to prepare it. Instead of cooking it in a pot, cover it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Place it in the refrigerator and bake it whenever you want to serve it. Remove the plastic wrap or aluminum foil before baking.

Is Hot Sauce Required For This Recipes?

Hot sauce is usually included in buffalo chicken dip or buffalo ranch sauce to make it spicy. But you do not have to use it if you don’t want to. If you are not a fan of spicy food or want the dip to be less spicy, you can leave out the hot sauce or use less of it. It is entirely okay to change the recipe to suit your taste.

What to Serve With Baked Buffalo Chicken Dip?

When serving this homemade dip recipe, I made, there are many other foods to pair it with. That is why I served it with my other homemade recipes like:

  • Dehydrated cucumber chips – Cucumber chips are light but crispy snacks, which is why they are perfect for dipping into the chicken dip for flavor.
  • Gluten-Free Wraps – I made these soft gluten-free wraps for tacos and enchiladas, but they are also perfect for pairing with our chicken dip.
  • Baked Radish Chips – The crispy texture of these baked radish chips pairs perfectly with the buffalo dip recipe.
  • Tortilla Chips – This is a classic choice for dipping because of its crunchy texture.

Can I Freeze This Easy Buffalo Chicken Dip?

Freezing this chicken dip is the perfect way to store it since it can last up to 3 months as long as you place it in an airtight container or a baking dish. Just make sure to cover it with a plastic wrap for better storage. When ready to use it, thaw it in the refrigerator for a few hours and bake it again without the plastic wrap.
