Instructions

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. If you’re using fresh green beans, trim the ends. If they’re frozen, just measure out the amount you need. Have the cream of mushroom soup and fried onions ready on the side. Preheat oven to 400°Fahrenheit (200°Celsius).
  • Bring a pot of water to a boil over medium heat, then blanch the green beans for a few minutes until they’re just tender. Drain them using a strainer and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the blanched green beans, and cream of mushroom soup. Mix well until everything is evenly coated. Transfer the mixture to the casserole dish, even out the surface, and cover it with lots of fried onions.
  • Bake in the preheated oven at 400°Fahrenheit (200°Celsius) for about 10 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy. Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it as a comforting main dish or as a side dish.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Green Beans: If possible, use fresh green beans for the best texture. Frozen beans work well too but might require a bit more draining.
  • Season to Taste: Add a pinch of salt and pepper to the mixture before baking, or even a dash of garlic powder for extra flavor.
  • Crispier Topping: For an even crispier topping, add the fried onions halfway through the baking time rather than at the start.
