With half a head of cabbage and a few seasoning blends (Italian seasoning works, too), you can already have the best batch of cooked cabbage.

Using Green Cabbage in Cooking Crispy Cabbage Steaks in the Air Fryer

There are different types of cabbage but the most commonly used are red cabbage and green cabbage. Both have similar crisp textures but for this recipe, the best fit is the green one. The red cabbage is slightly sweeter and has its own flavor. Since the regular green cabbage is milder in flavor, it is easier to season and adjust its natural taste.

Must-Have Tools for Your Kitchen

  • Air Fryer: This is our main kitchen gadget for this recipe.
  • Brush:  We will use this when it’s time to season the cabbage.
  • Bowl: Prepare a bowl for all the seasonings and spices and another bowl for the cabbage slices.
  • Knife: Make sure that the kitchen knife has a flat edge and is sharp so it is easy to cut the cabbage head.

Key Ingredients:

  • Cabbage Head: I suggest you pick out the freshest cabbage to ensure the quality of having the best meal.
  • Lemon: A drizzle of lemon adds a zesty flavor.
  • Olive Oil: A little oil helps the seasoning be well-bound and also makes the cabbage crispy.
  • Granulated Garlic: Fresh garlic can be good but for this recipe, granulated garlic is the best option so that it will be easier to mix with the other seasoning.
  • Onion Powder: A hint of sweet flavor will come from the onion powder so it is a good addition to the recipe.
  • Paprika: The smokiness of the paprika adds flavor to the entire dish.
  • Salt and Black Pepper: The salt and pepper combo balances everything and brings out the best flavors.
